The poems were selected by the artist, through careful research and recalling old childhood favorites. The goal of this book is to make poetry approachable to young readers with bold and engaging illustrations that bring the words to life. The selection focuses mostly on poems that were originally written in English, to preserve the rhythm and rhyme of the writing.

Specially printed with three overlapping spot inks, the vibrant results are similar to traditional printmaking. There are four surprise foldout spreads in the book.
